...a Lionheart guitar - I think they're made in Indonesia with ridiculous levels of ornate inlaying on the fretboard and "interesting" treatment of the wooden body - interesting to look at, not sure what they'd be like to play. Takes over a year to get one. Ridiculous shredder guitars...
...Jesus wept, why would you do this in the first place?
They say right there on their website! (ha!) Lionheart Guitars "...is more than a piece of wood and a chunk of metal, there is a passion carved deep within each and every instrument."
PASSION CARVED DEEP!!
(looks like somebody barfed all over some of those guitars...)
awesome youtube comment of the day
Bill and Ted time traveled and brought a bass player from 1973, a drummer from 1984 and a guitar player from 1995. Now they're spreading peace all over the world

Those Lionheart guitars are prisoners of the moment. They better cash in because the stupid colored-epoxy-filled-wood fad will likely be dying soon. Hopefully.

I'd be interested to know what the Friedman is like. It's probably a super hot metal pickup isn't it?
Not as far as I can tell. A quick Google says it's about a 7.8k Alnico 5. That falls right in the range of pickup specs I usually like.
I read an interesting interview with a p'up builder ...... someone like Lollar or something but I don't remember who .... just remember it was one of the well-known guys.
And he said that the resistance tells you nothing about the output of a p'up ..... he went on and said "take a p'up ...... wind it to 15k and remove the magnets ..... you'll get zero output.
He felt the current thing about resistance was way overblown because everything else matters just as much.
For instance, apparently you need to put in some passion!
One of my influences played a Gordon Smith. I read an interview once where he (Frankie Stubbs) stated It got stolen on their last big tour and he hasn't bothered to replace it and he hasn't touched a guitar that even came close to what the guitar was. So says he. Now i beleive he just plays whatever when he decides to perform. lol. Naturally, when i learned of them i went hunting and searching and sure enough they are indeed very basic and really they don't need to be anything like that Lionheart thing. What a monstrosity.

I totally agree. But for us non-winders, knowing the resistance and magnet type can get you in the ballpark of guesstimating how it's gonna behave.
I doubt it, actually. Too big, too few people, costs too high. The logistics kill off the bottom end. There are boutique builders, sure, lots of them, but no-one attempts the sub $1000 market.
We have Maton for acoustics, and they do some electrics, but I don't like them at all and they are mid-range to high on the price scale.
We have a minimum wage of $19 pH, so by the time you get up to people who can make guitars. You're talking double that and that quickly puts labour costs through the roof. And you can imagine transportation.

He is partially correct. However the resistance is a factor but not in isolation. It is the easiest thing to measure. Everything thing else does matter.
Here's a great example of the ridiculous price being asked in Australia - and this mob are, relatively cheap and have claimed their price is more than a grand AUS$ below RRP... Australian $ prices

That's about $2900 USA bucks.
It's listed here for $2749 at Sweetwater. Same price at Guitar Center and Musicians Friend. All the popular big USA retailers.
Your price is only $150 higher than ours....roughly 5%. Is that considered excessive? I don't know the prices of acoustic guitars, but I think that guitar is probably way over-priced anywhere in the world.

An acoustic rayc ? Are you unwell?.
We earn more, live longer, have awesome beaches everywhere and don't get shot as much. Guitar/gear prices are something I try not to worry about too much.
Sidebar: I've taken my lunch to work my entire working life - that, instead of buying lunch every day like a lot of my colleagues, gets me a high level strat or similar per year, a LP standard every 18 months, if I wanted to...
I linked to the wrong guitar - I did select a Les Paul but that ended up and I thought - WOW that much for an acoustic guitar.
Remember that it's KNOCKED DOWN AUS$1050 for the EOFY sale so the original asking was US$ 600 odd more that's around US$3,590.67
I only get narcked about it occasionally - like when I see something from OS and then look at local prices. In the end I only own cheap stuff so it's no real issue. Not like I was going to spend BIG .
I was looking at an Epiphone LP and the price was REALLY small - AUS$240 but I had a good look - it's a small image initially that looks like it has a coupl of P90 types but on closer inspection it's just a pair of single coils. Epi LP
I have a 4 or 5 single coil guitars and a couple of Humbuckers jobbies (a Squire & an Epi ) so it doesn't interest me now.

Right but the MSRP is always way freakin higher than the actual street price. The US version MSRP is some 800 bucks higher than the asking price. They list MSRP to make you think you're getting a deal. On that one acoustic guitar yall's pricing isn't really any different from our own.

It's the same here. No one pays RRP. 15% off is pretty standard.

I've been friends with owner of that business for over 45 years, she is an astute person that has spent her whole life working in the music retail industry and knows how to survive.
Without ever asking for favours, over the years our first JCM900 and my Fostex D160 were supplied at "cost" and we're still "taken care of" when we walk in that store.

Clearly I'm wrong - sorry.
+$150ish is not big deal compared to the US.
Well I think it's a bunch of shit there's any difference at all, much less that much difference kind sir...It's simply greed IMO & things don't have to be this way but they are...Taking up for all you guys who have to deal with this crap...
