I think there are two types of OD/Dist pedals.

1) The ones that suck real bad
2) The rest that all sound and work the same
I don't really agree .... to me it's surprising how every one of the things sounds different.
They do sound different if you use them all with the same amp and same amp settings, I bet you could use a bit of the amp's tonestack to split the difference though. Just have to find what one works with your tone. The do all basically do the same thing though: increase the level hitting the front of your amp, add if bit of soft clipping and add their own EQ to your tone.

I actually like the OCD over a crunched amp. Took me ages to work out how to make it sound good though. The OCD has huge amounts of level available - much past half way on the volume knob is normally too much. Volume parity is at about 9 O'clock!

Finally got around to buying a that new power supply - such a boring thing to spend money on!

I'm going to record some before and after tones to see if it actually makes a difference and also look at my metering when I'm not playing to see if I can tell if it makes any difference to the noise. At the moment I use a 1-Spot and a daisy chain with 8 pedals on it so I imagine it will make a fairly big difference to the noise.

Nice. I thinks the noise thing is hit or miss and generally comes from mixing digital pedals in with analog, but not always. I used to run a onespot daisy chain and didn’t have any issues until one day I did. Now I run a power supply not only for potential noise issues, but pedals have a lot of different power requirements and having the flexibility is nice for me. But yeah, a totally boring purchase. It’s like getting an oil change or changing the brakes on your car.

Yeah - I added up the ampage on a few of my pedals after I bought a few digital pedals as they tend to be 100mA. A 1-Spot only does 1.2A.
When the digital pedals started introducing a bit of noise I figured it was time to get isolated power for them.

JD01 My El Capistan has a 250 mA draw and my old Avalanche Run was 425 mA. The others are all in the 100 or lower range. And some of my stuff can operate at 18v too, so it’s nice having a bunch of options when you hoard pedals like me ha!

Bloody hell, they're juicy! I've got nothing like that... but then I've never had the option for something like that before either.

Liv, how much delay (and control over it) do you need!
I get confused when there's more than 3 knobs on a delay.

Lol this one is about as easy at it gets. Has your “normal” delay functions like time, mix and feedback. The other two knobs are for the modulation. The buttons have a few different functions though. But for a modern delaynwiyh all the features it has lime this it’s pretty straightforward compared to others. That’s one of the reasons I didn’t keep the Boss RV-500 for long because the menus were so deep it was too complicated to tweak.

When I first saw it I wasn’t really impressed but then when digging for something new I realized I missed out on the level of control and tweakability over the modulation. This is my first go with it:

Nice, is that for your live set? Well, I'm assuming its for your live set... loopers are pretty pointless when you have a DAW handy I suppose! :spacepalm:

Yeah I have a couple of wedding gigs coming up. The one wants some instrumental music while people come in and while walking down the aisle. So I thought I could write a few things with the looper and see how it sounds. Also when I will be playing my acoustic set I think it will be cool for instrumental sections of those songs as well.

It's just fun to play with as well. :smiles:

My Idiot-Box Klon Klone arrived today.
Hopefully I'll get a chance to plug it in and see if I like it later on. Not really plugged into my amp for about a month now.

I think I'm gonna get a new SG. I'm thinking of selling my Angus SG and just getting a normal SG.

A white standard with the small pickguard. That would be ideal.

Is there any tone/feel reason to get rid of the Angus?

Or is it just worth a few quid and you could get a new one and have change? (to buy overdrive pedals with nice graphics on them)

White SGs do look nice. There's also them new Jrs

A little bit of all that except for the pedal part. I've never hated pedals as much as I do right now.

Anyway, the Angus is great, but I feel a little odd playing it out because it's starting to get worth a little bit of money. I think I might possibly be able to get almost double what I paid for it. Maybe. And if that's happening and it's no longer a tool that I just wanna grab and use for what it is, then maybe it's time to cash in on it. And the neck is really really small. It's got the late 60s Gibson "pencil neck". That part of it intrigued me at first, but I'm over it now. I'm not into huge necks, but I prefer the chunkier neck of a standard SG. Besides the slimmer neck, the guitar is totally standard typical SG-sized, but it feels smaller. It isn't, but it sure feels that way. No complaints on the pickups or build quality. It's perfect. It's a beautiful guitar. The lightning bolt inlays still make me chuckle. I just want a normal SG again.
