Re: NEW GEAR!! Buying anything?
Thanks fellas.
Nope, still got it. Now I got two basses which is one too many. But I'm keeping it.

Thanks, it's pretty cool. I might start taking bass more seriously I doubt it though.WhiskeyJack wrote: ↑Thu Jan 10, 2019 1:13 am Oh here it is. I found the memo. that is a nice rig man. Love it.

Re: NEW GEAR!! Buying anything?
didn't really get a chance to comment last night as i was totally over sitting in front of a computer for that long yesterday.
I think you did really well with this purchase. And had i know this was a thing back when i shelled out for my P-Bass i would have 100% gone with this. I was able to take home a p and J bass to demo before buying and and much like yourself i really preferred how the J felt, played, looked, etc, over the p bass but it just didn't put out like the P bass did for the sound i wanted. So i ended up getting the p and having it modded with the jack to out put thru the side and not the front.
I should have researched a little harder and got one of these. It only makes logical sense to get way more with way less. You made an awesome purchase dude. And on top of all that aesthetically it's a solid 10 out of 10.

Re: NEW GEAR!! Buying anything?
Thanks man. These things are a Guitar Center/Musicians Friend exclusive. I don't think you can find them anywhere else in this configuration...as far as I know.WhiskeyJack wrote: ↑Thu Jan 10, 2019 12:02 pm

I've been aware of them for about a year or so and always eyeball them whenever I'm in a GC. But I've never seen a white one. The only ones I've seen are metallic seafoam green, which is pretty cool, and a typical burst, which is meh. So I'd almost settled on the seafoam green one in the store and decided to look online for a coupon...there are always coupons....and I just happened to see a white/black one at Musicians Friend. Boom. Done. Add to cart. No brainer. $749.
P/J basses aren't rare or anything, but this one has a cool look to me with the big black block inlays and black binding Jazz neck. It's not something you normally see on P Basses. The neck is sweet. I play bass like it's a guitar, so the slimmer neck works great. Look and sound of a P, plays easy like a J, I think it's a win/win.
The only knock is it has no case. Not even a gig bag. It came in a box. So I scrounged up an aftermarket case on amazon and it'll do.

My buddy that used to play in a band with me has the seafoam green. I had no idea that these were exclusive to GC/Musician's Friend, though.Greg_L wrote: ↑Thu Jan 10, 2019 12:45 pmThanks man. That might be why i had never ever heard of them. They will be highly sought after by smart bassits.
Rare breed i know, but there are some out there. perhaps a blanket term of "smart musicians" is more appropo?

Re: NEW GEAR!! Buying anything?
Yeah it's not even on Fender's site. They make them just for sale through GC/MF. It's a Fender Precision Bass Special Deluxe Series. Lol. Hell of a name.
Lol yeah I don't know about all that, but I'm just happy to have a nice bass for once.WhiskeyJack wrote: ↑Thu Jan 10, 2019 2:21 pm That might be why i had never ever heard of them. They will be highly sought after by smart bassits.

PJ bass - cloned already BUT it's active and they don't say what sort of neck. It's only AUS250 delivered though.

In bass land I already have an 81 vantage (round wounds), a 70s semiacoustic Emperador (flat wounds), a No Name acoustic 5 string and a knock off Hofner Violin/Beatle bass so am not in the market.
If I were I'd LOVE a real P bass with the chromeware.

That's pretty damned sweet Greg. Great looking bass. I think that Fender pretty much nailed the bass guitar on their first few tries. That's a great mesh of all of the classics wrapped up in one instrument.

Re: NEW GEAR!! Buying anything?
I have to buy a new recording computer. The missus tripped over the charging cable and brought it crashing to its demise.
So far, HP are highest up the laptop list with:
G6 i5, 8gb RAM, 250gb SSD £469
Core i7, 8gb RAM 250gb SSD, £549
At least they've managed to recover my data.

I think you need @Tadpui to give you a hand with this - he was dead helpful when I got my last laptop.Bubba wrote: ↑Fri Jan 11, 2019 5:45 am I have to buy a new recording computer. The missus tripped over the charging cable and brought it crashing to its demise.
