Armistice Rarities and B sides #1

Post by Armistice »

OK - it's a bit quiet just now and Ausrock's arrival sort of sent me down memory lane listening to my old stuff, when I was the artist formerly known as Armistice, whose stock in trade was acoustic guitar-based instrumentals.

I found a track or two that would (and may yet) perhaps find their way onto the fourth Armistice album if it ever comes into existence - perhaps when I finish what I'm doing now I'll head back in that musical direction again. Anyway, seeing they're "unreleased" I thought I'd shove them in here so you have something new to listen to. I've actually got YouTube vids for the two tracks I found so may have posted them somewhere before, but probably not here.

I work a lot with open tunings and a "third hand capo" - so they sound a little different from a standard tuned acoustic, and I'm also playing what I'll call "chordal melodies" - which is a bit of a different approach courtesy of the open/weird tunings :nyuk:

Not looking for mix critique - these are better recorded than anything else I've done in this genre however - just something to have a listen to - some acoustic guitar to soothe your savage electric souls as we head into another week. :lollers:

Acoustic sounds like a sneeze doesn't it?
I like the wooow of the fading bass note.
Lovely playing David - a little short but resolved nonetheless.
Cheers

Great sounding acoustic guitars there Armi. Does have that Jimmy Page open tuning feel to it.

I listened to both these tracks yesterday and today and they're very nice to listen to. I could imagine them as background to film of some artisan cutting dovetail joints or using a draw knife in the woods somewhere. Or, perhaps a montage of some horny-handed old punk whittling a dinosaur head over a seven-year period.

Really well recorded and played, mate. :)

As if anyone would ever actually do that though... :lollers:

Wow, Armi. You sound like Joni Mitchell.

Very nice. Pretty song.

I could go for a little more bite/definition/articulation on the strummed acoustics. Maybe roll off a little more low end on the bass.

But that's about it. It was very nice.
