Amplifier - nah, not much fussed.
I quite like that one VHS. The Fripp on Heroes tones are lovely.
I'm sure, given how long he been around, he'd be amused to be called the darling of anything. He left prog behind several albums ago.

Or this, down the heavier end of the musical spectrum:
See, when I think "slow build" and "heavier end of the spectrum", this is my go to:

(got 15 minutes?)
I was liking it until the downtuned guitars came in...

They didn't give me a reason. My ban memo said something like "Your time here has ended, time for you to go". That was it. I only posted in the tone thread at that point. How much trouble could I have been causing? Zero. Zero troubles.

Me too mate, basically at that time I think there was a gang of insecure folk there who decided that they wanted to cull all the knowledge and have a nice warm fuzzy virtual reality. I hadnt posted in a few months and told some guy in the clinic that he needed to get some one else to do the singing on his stuff cos it was messing up his otherwise decent songwriting, that was it... bam no explanation just gone. I really really dont care, the place was worse than useless anyway. Prolly still is.. I just dont care, you and I gave more to that place than we ever got out of it other than some good mates and the odd lol.. I think I was banned at the around the same time you were..

Meanwhile Armistice and I are just sitting here whistling non-nonchalantly.

I think the mp3 clinic still has some value. A lot more mixes at a much wider variety of skill levels is good for practicing your critical listening; plus you get a lot more non-expert critiques on your mixes. (I may dismiss 75% of the advice I get from Robus, but it's still useful to hear.)
Otherwise, newbies melting down because they can't take criticism is still pretty fun to watch. :lollers:

haha - that's a thought... your mixes are weird at the best of times! They're not bad - they're just weird. To critique one of your mixes is odd and quite tricky. I get the impression from Robus that everything should sound like a folky rock n roll song - he must struggle with your music.

I've been hearing VHS music for about ten years, so I feel like I'm pretty tuned in on what he's going for. It is quirky. I try to give feedback with keeping his style in mind. To a new listener or someone with preconceived notions of what a mix should sound like, his music must be maddening.

What VHS said ^

I'm always happy to listen to what people say because they are hearing something - what I do with that information is another matter. Sometimes it's useful, sometimes not.

Actually I think my mixes have come on a lot since this place came about primarily because there are some really good ears here but not so many people, and I don't have to deal with the randomness of some at HR.

And I always try to get the mix right here before posting it at HR. :robus: does actually have pretty good ears.

This is true.
