Believe

Post by Mr Clean »

Here's another re-recorded old song from my vault. I wrote this May 1995 when I was 17 and pretty much forgot all about it until recently while going through old cassettes. So much crap on them but every now an then I find something that I remember so well and the time it was captured in. Anyway, I thought I'd give this one a 2024 upgrade for my memory box.

LYRICS

I, I don’t believe, in things I can’t see
But I can see you, the tears in your eyes
I see through your lies, I enter your dreams
I’m nowhere to be seen

I, I don’t believe, in heaven or hell
Or stories they tell me
I’ll find out for myself
When the darkest night falls, when the ocean breeze calls
I’ll find out for myself

Somebody told me a long time ago
Don’t you be fooled by the lies that you’re told
Follow your heart and the truth will unfold at your feet

Night time gets lonely when you’re on your own
Dreams are forgotten and friends come and go
Somebody loves you, it’s someone you know or you’ll meet

Life may seem empty but it can be filled
Like courtrooms and graveyards by killers and killed
You might feel like dying and maybe you will or you won’t

Someday you’ll find someone you’ll want to hold
She’ll give you a rainbow, be her pot of gold
React to her actions and make sure she knows how you feel
Reveal, how you feel

I’m looking for something, that I can believe.

This is pretty nice.

Maybe it could use some more kick and low-end in general. It feels a little mid-rangey, maybe?

It's cool as a song - very midrangey as mentioned. I can hear the piano bass keys doing something cool in that intro like in the life can section. Maybe pull the piano back a little for dynamics/arrangement.
Vocal is cool
