]well .... it has a reed but it doesn't produce any sound .... it's just a sensor to measure lip pressure.
You can set it to behave like an actual reed and simply be a pitch control but you can also set it for basically anything .... it can be that it gets louder the harder you press or add tremolo the more you press or control filters .... anything you might control with the joystick on a keyboard basically..

I had to google the AE-30 as I too had no idea what it was. Looks like a pretty cool instrument. I listened to Mix 1 as I didn't know there was a second mix until later. I thought the first mix sounded pretty great. Sitting chillin' listening to Mix 2 and it sounds even better. Sounds a little reminiscent of something from the Fantasy - Paint A Picture album.

Great stuff - Really enjoyed that.
