I'm putting together my final superboard ..... gonna be sweet with about 12 pedals on it.

Don't know why really ..... all i do is solo work so i'll never get to use it ..... same with my awesome gRamp ..... getting too old and I don't know enough people here to ever play in a band again.

Sounds like you did your due diligence and found that you've already got the better guitar. That's very grown up of you, I'm a little jealous :D

Actually I did the same thing with the 72 Tele that I'd taken a liking to. After cooling down a bit on it, I realized that paying absolute top dollar for a guitar made in the darkest and arguably worst era in Fender's history just wasn't a good idea. I think that over the coming months I'm going to search out a much cheaper Tele that'll give me what I want. I might even just do a parts-caster from bits and pieces off of Stu Mac or Warmouth or something. For like 1/5 or 1/10 the price I can come up with something. I mean, it's a Telecaster and not a spaceship...paying bucket loads of money for one just doesn't make a lot of sense.
haha. I don't know if I'd file it under adult decision but it's the one i came to. I really wanted to get something new. But i have irons in other fires currently that could be more fun / exciting.

I think you dodged a bullet honestly with your 72 Tele. I will still grab teles off the walls (i did this past weekend as well) and fart around on them i am being completely sincere that despite the warts all over my homemade kit tele I got from Solo for 160 bucks or whatever it plays just as nicely and has all the "Tele" Charm as some of the on the wall American Fenders in shops. Obviously the actual fenders are much better build and the fret work is better, but on a recording i think you'd be hard pressed to tell a difference. It's the most rudimentary simple little dumb electric guitar ever made.

If i had any say in your affairs' i would vote part's caster for sure! Your work on computers shows you have the tedious patience to source good stuff and get stuff put together. I think you should do the partscaster thing. In the end i know for sure you will appreciate it WAY more than some overpriced thing in store and both would be great conversation pieces. The pro's to a parts caster greatly out weigh the cons. :like:

liv_rong wrote: Sun Apr 10, 2022 7:20 pm I ordered a compressor, the same one I had a few years back, a Wampler Mini Ego. I like it for the picking stuff I do. I am rebuilding my board in the coming weeks and also rebuilding my secondary board.

I have grand ambitions to record two amps at once for a couple ideas I have instead of overdubbing. I did it once before and was happy with the results.

Plus fun to do stuff that doesn’t mean anything haha
I look forward to what your brain and fingers shit out using this method. It's been far too long since we've had some cool Liv stuff to listen to :like: :like: :like:

So you guys saw my recent pedal board from when I bought the Leo Nocentelli Mardi Gras wah:

And I recently mentioned that I was looking at the TC Electronics Plethora x5. Well, I went ahead and got it. I used it at rehearsal this past week and I think I really like it. I have access to all of the sounds I had before; plus hundreds more if I feel like it. And the board looks much cleaner.
PXL_20220503_194136235.jpg
Still needs some tweaks. And doesn't sound exactly like I would like in some areas. But the convenience is just amazing as I can have as many different delays; or reverbs; or tremolos; etc, as I want and I can adjust the major parameters on the fly is huge. I may actually get another one for my smaller board because it just covers so many things for me.

I should mention that this pedal does NOT have any dirt/drive pedals. It also doesn't have any amp or cab sims. It's pretty much exactly what I've been looking for, lots of pedal options in a small foot print and without a bunch of stuff that I paid for and will never use (such as amp and cab sims and dirt/drive pedals).

I love mine. I usually don't need to use it but for some songs it just helps me punch through everything and put me on top. It sounds killer on my small amps. Really pushes the amp into great tone. With bigger amps I usually use it as a boost, rather than coloring the tone. But that changes from gig to gig and room to room.

And that No Moon pedal gives me 3 different types of dirt so I have a very flexible rig for a wide variety of tone.

Damn I had no idea that thing exists. I had to Google it. That's pretty cool. That would be something even I could use for my two very different guitar gigs.

Nice score! :coolstorybro:

Me neither - surprised it's taken so long for someone to come up with it - especially with so many dirt pedals around for people who want them - a dirt free pedal that does all the time based stuff seems a no brainer. If I was in the market for a new live set up I'd be all over that.

That's a nice board and the Plethora is worth having just for the name!

Yeah, I agree. What a great idea.
I'm really picky about my core tone which often includes overdrives which I've chosen fairly carefully.
I don't give that much of a shit about my chorus, flanger, phaser, delay etc. I just want them to do the job and not be shit.

I just picked up a Flama Mod for my second board of misfits. Fun little pedal, and the price was right at $34. BUT just reinforced that I really want a Warped Vinyl.

This is gonna gradually become a flamma stan board!

I've been using the heck out of my flamma stereo cab sim. It's so much easier than lugging actual amps to most gigs.

They look and sound cool BUT there're WAY too many knobs, and switches for me. As I can't tell cool from cruel when I'm "sound designing" I'm better off with a one knob job.

So I haven't bought this stuff but my buddy has. He's been on an Eastman kick lately. And I can confirm that these things play and sound equal to or better than Gibsons for less money. The black one is similar to a Les Custom. The other is like a Traditional, I think. Both have ebony boards.

Also, we're playing in a cover band that requires lots of tonal options. He has the Friedman Twin Sisters (which is 2 Dirty Shirley's in the same box), the Marshall Origin, a couple of Trainor's and a H & K Tubemiester. For the band we're in, his origin is his amp of choice. His tone is just fantastic. I'll try to record some tones for y'all soon.

In my case, for this band, I'm using a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe III with a Vintage 30 speaker and upgraded tubes with either a Les Paul Custom or my '61 reissue SG.
