That is true, and I'm all in on trans rights and them freely living their true selves and all that, but I don't want to be a lady.

Re: Gut and refurb old ss combo
Jesus... I don't want Greg to be a lady either.
Re: Gut and refurb old ss combo
Okay this should be it. Totally finished. I've still got to really give it a workout, and that will be at band practice tonight. But so far so good. Working great, sounding great, and finally looking totally great.
There may still be a few little tweaks to come, but I'm calling it. The Assman lives!

That really does look great. Excellent work!
It looks like it belongs to a pimp that also plays surf guitar
Bad ass, man.

Ha thanks. A pimp that plays surf guitar.

He'd have the best hos for sure.

The piping really gives it the finished, non amateur look.
Cheers

Brilliant... grabs a lot of attention in amongst the Marshall colours.

If you’re a fan of Always Sunny in Philadelphia, you can call it The Assman Liveth.
Looks awesome Greg. Cant wait to hear it in the tone thread.

“Naaaaaaaaaah man. I ain’t touching that mic. That thing’s expensive!”
Re: Gut and refurb old ss combo
The piping was a bit of a bitch. I've done piping before on speaker baffles and bigger Marshall heads. No problem. I skimped out though and bought some really cheap flimsy piping for this and it was hard to keep straight and even. And that front panel just barely fits...even after trimming. It's a pretty tight fit and I'm not keen on taking it back out. Ever.

Thanks, it does pop. The blue cheetah fur is pretty vibrant, though it doesn't really show in the dining room table photos. Those pics out in the sun is what it really looks like.
Thanks, and I do love Sunny. I'd say it's easily in my top 5 TV shows of all time. Assman....ah-ah-ahhhhhhhh!CrowsofFritz wrote: ↑Thu May 05, 2022 8:24 pm If you’re a fan of Always Sunny in Philadelphia, you can call it The Assman Liveth.

Looks great, mate. Well done.
Re: Gut and refurb old ss combo
Thanks man.

Well I jammed it at a really loud practice last night - the Assman worked flawlessly. It sounds pretty huge. I've never played a real authentic vintage 6G6B Bassman so I can't compare them but I liked what I heard for my kind of surfabilly sounds. Most importantly, it just worked and worked well. It made it through a couple hours of very loud tube melting operation.

That looks fucking AWESOME!
You know that for an old dude I'm a fan of loud colors to go with the loud sounds and this looks like what I'd want it to look like.
Just really nice except no lightshow thru the opening .......
...... but I guess you can't have everything! lol
Hate to say it but it needs a matching cab.

Lol. If I had been able to get the grill cloth I really wanted then it could have had a light show. But with that grill cloth nonexistent now and no alternatives that tickled my taint I just did it like it is.Lt. Bob wrote: ↑Fri May 06, 2022 1:08 pm That looks fucking AWESOME!

On the plus side, since it is a solid front panel, I can get a logo plate made for it that says ASSMAN.

Holy SHIT! That is ridiculous! Awesome work!
Re: Gut and refurb old ss combo
Thanks! I am thinking about an extension cab just for it. I've got two Celestion G12H30s just sitting here doing nothing. They might be good with this amp. Maybe I'll build me a 2x12 cab.
Shit I just remembered I have a donor 2x12 combo out in the garage. Maybe I could use that. Fuck I got so many amps now I can't keep track of them all.
Ha thanks!
